The Ultimate Solution for Reverse-Wound Middle Pickups

The Dual Layer BzzzzKill is specifically engineered for Strat-style guitars with a reverse-wound middle pickup—also known as Reverse Wound Reverse Polarity (RWRP) Stratocasters. It virtually eliminates the persistent 60-cycle hum (50Hz in UK/EU) across all pickup positions—including the traditionally quieter positions 2 & 4—while preserving the authentic tone that made your guitar legendary.

Designed For

Strat-style single-coil SSS guitars with a reverse-wound middle pickup (including the vast majority of Fender Stratocasters® made in recent years)

Guitars that are quiet in positions 2 & 4, but buzz in positions 1, 3, and 5

Players demanding professional-quality noise reduction across all pickup settings

Studio and performing musicians who need pristine signal quality

Key Benefits

COMPLETE NOISE SOLUTION

Virtually eliminates hum in ALL positions, including positions 1, 3, and 5 where reverse-wound guitars typically buzz

PRESERVES AUTHENTIC TONE

Maintains your pickups' original voice, dynamic response, and character

NON-INVASIVE INSTALLATION

No drilling or permanent modifications—preserves your guitar's value

ENHANCED PERFORMANCE

Specially designed stacked technology to work with your guitar's existing noise-cancelling capabilities

TRANSFERABLE BETWEEN GUITARS

Can be moved to another guitar if you sell or upgrade your instrument

The BzzzzKill Difference

Most hum-reduction solutions for reverse-wound pickup guitars are incomplete. Having quiet positions 2 & 4 is great, but positions 1, 3, and 5 still buzz—forcing you to avoid these positions or compromise your tone.

The Dual Layer BzzzzKill completes what your reverse-wound pickup started, delivering virtually noise-free operation across all positions while leaving your tone intact and your guitar's value preserved.

How to Choose the Right Model

If positions 2 & 4 on your 5-way pickup selector switch are quiet while positions 1, 3, and 5 buzz, this Dual Layer BzzzzKill is right for you. This is the case for the vast majority of Fender Stratocasters® manufactured in recent years, which come standard with a reverse-wound middle pickup. (Hit Add to Cart above!)

BUT if you hear buzz in ALL pickup selector switch positions, the Single Layer BzzzzKill is your solution.

INSTALLATION PREVIEW

Installing your BzzzzKill requires soldering skills and comfort working with electronics. If you have experience with these tasks, our comprehensive Installation Guide walks you through every step.

We don't recommend learning to solder on your precious Strat®. Installation is a quick and simple task for a qualified luthier or guitar tech.

FAQ

How does the Dual Layer model differ from the Single Layer?

The Dual Layer BzzzzKill is specifically designed to work with guitars that have a reverse-wound middle pickup. These guitars already have some noise-cancelling capability in positions 2 & 4, and our Dual Layer technology complements this to provide noise reduction across all positions.

Will the BzzzzKill affect my guitar's tone?

No. BzzzzKill is specifically designed to reduce noise while preserving the authentic single-coil tone your guitar is known for.

Will this work with aftermarket pickups?

Yes, as long as your guitar has a reverse-wound middle pickup configuration. If you're unsure, perform the simple test above or contact us.

How difficult is installation?

Installation requires soldering skills and comfort working with electronics. If you own a soldering iron and have experience with these tasks, you can install it yourself following our detailed instructions. However, we don't recommend learning to solder on your valuable instrument. For most players, we recommend having a qualified luthier or guitar tech handle the installation, which is a quick and simple task for a professional.

Is this a permanent modification?

No. BzzzzKill installs without any permanent modifications to your guitar. It can be removed at any time, leaving your instrument in its original condition.

STAGE & STUDIO READY

Stop repositioning to avoid buzz zones. No more dodging stage lights or dealing with venue electrical gremlins! BzzzzKill keeps your tone clean no matter where you move. Finally, focus on your performance instead of fighting interference.

Every position. Any level. Every song.

WORKS IN ALL POSITIONS

Unlike hum-reduction solutions that only work in certain pickup combinations, BzzzzKill delivers consistent noise reduction across all five selector switch positions.

Whether you're playing the bright bridge pickup (position 1), the warm neck pickup (position 5), or any combination in between, BzzzzKill lets you focus on your music.

Installed Dual Layer Bzzzzkill with no problems. Little more effort than the single layer but not much. This guitar I installed the dual layer in has a full aluminum pickguard shield plate in it and it’s completely quite. It’s a worthwhile addition to add the shield if it doesn’t have one and put the bzzzzkill in at same time. Very nice. Thanks fellows. 👍

Thank you, Steven! Really glad to hear you had a smooth installation process with your Dual Layer Bzzzzkill. It's great to know the addition of the shield plate has made your guitar completely quiet. Thank you for the positive feedback and for choosing BzzzzKill. We appreciate the review and are hugely grateful for your support!

I discovered buzzkill recently as I was considering some expensive noiseless pickups as a solution

I discovered buzzkill recently as I was considering some expensive noiseless pickups as a solution, but I’ve enjoyed the tone (minus the buzz) of my custom shop fat 50’s pickups that came stock on my Strat.

Pleased to report back the product works as advertised, I’ve had a wonderful experience with everyone in the company, customer service was outstanding.

I endorse and recommend this product and company, had a great experience overall! I will be keen on the future products they release. :)

Thank you for such kind words and for sharing your positive experience with your Dual Layer BzzzzKill! Really happy to hear that it has worked well with your Fat 50s and that you enjoyed our customer service. Keep on rockin’! :)

I have installed the bzzzzkill system on my 1983 squire Japan Strat

I have installed the bzzzzkill system on my 1983 squire Japan Strat. I am using Texas special pickups. I have installed a dual bzzzzkill system in my strat. So the reverse wound middle is also hum cancelling..when used alone. My thoughts on the system?
1 it does slightly alter tone but actually I find in a good way takes some of the harshness out of a pickup.. around 4-6k I have installed a dpdt push push switch in one of the tone pots to be able to bypass this system when I don't need it. All systems affect tone anyone telling you different is lying to you. But this affects tone in a good way. It smooths things out.. for clean it's nice to be able to bypass so you can get some of the glass like too end when you need it. My thoughts are this is a good system although not perfect it's better than most I have see or tried. My two cents. My background I have been a professional live sound engineer for over 30 years a amp tech for over 30 years and a guitar player for 49 years... I have owned hundreds of guitars fixed thousands of amps. And I have no skin in this game.
For $200 it's a bargain.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review for our Dual Layer BzzzzKill. We really appreciate your feedback and are glad it has made a positive impact on your 1983 Squire Japan Strat.

We understand that all systems technically affect tone and we are happy that BzzzzKill has actually improved it for you. It's great that you have also found a way to bypass it when you choose with the push-push switch.

Thanks for your support and for sharing your background with us. We're grateful to have customers like you who have been in the industry for so long and are willing to try BzzzzKill!

I installed a dual layer BzzzKill on a 2002 Fender Stratocaster. The original pickups were replaced with a Fender pre-wired pickguard setup with Texas Special pickups. The guitar is much quieter now and I would recommend this product, not to mention their high-quality customer service. After my first try at installing the BzzzKill and not getting very much noise reduction, I sent them a video of my installation and requested help. They replied with very thoughtful suggestions and other good tips on how to fix the problem. Below are some problems that I encounter that may be helpful to others.
When I first tried to install the BzzzKill, I was not hearing any real difference in the amount of hum whether I had the black or white wire attached to the pickup and the other wire attached to the ground. What I found was causing this was the soldering iron station. Once I turned it off, there was a lot less hum and I was then able to hear a difference in the amount of hum depending on which wire was attached to the pickup as shown in the installation video.
One other thing that I found could cause hum and a crackling noise through the guitar was my phone. When I placed it too close to the guitar while recording a video, I would get this extra noise. I found that if I recorded the video about a foot or two away from the guitar, I wouldn’t have this phone noise problem.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review of our Dual Layer BzzzzKill. Delighted to hear you've noticed such a huge reduction in noise after installing it on your Strat.

We're really glad our suggestions were helpful in resolving the issues you encountered during the installation process. We hugely appreciate your feedback, and it helps us guide others too. (We've added cellular phones and soldering irons into possible causes of interference in our Troubleshooting Guide.)

Thank you for choosing BzzzzKill, and for sharing your experience. Hope you continue to love your buzz-free Strat! Please share your video with us!

Finally can use my Strat for everything!

I've been playing in a local cover band for about 8 years, and always had to choose between my Gibson Les Paul and my Strat depending on the song. The Strat sounded amazing for clean stuff and classic rock, but the second we kicked in any overdrive or distortion, the buzz would drive everyone crazy, especially our sound guy.
I was skeptical about BzzzzKill at first (seemed too good to be true), but got to say I'm blown away. We played a 3-hour gig last weekend and I used the Strat for everything - even the heavier Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam covers that I always used to switch to the Gibson for.
The tone is exactly the same as before from what I can tell, just with no annoying buzz. Our keyboard player, who didn't know I had changed anything, even commented that my guitar sounded "cleaner" through the monitors.
Installation was quick for our tech, and he said the video was helpful. Worth every penny to finally have my fave guitar be my go-to for any song in our setlist. Never thought I would.
Wish I'd had this sooner!

Thank you for your review, Mark! We're thrilled that our DUAL LAYER BZZZZKILL has made such a huge difference in your performances. We designed it specifically to eliminate that annoying buzz and it's great to know it's exceeded your expectations. We hope you continue to enjoy using your Strat for everything, everywhere without any limitations. Rock on!

No More Crappy Buzz

Amazing add-on. This is literally a game changer for me. I play punk and reggae and my power chords sound as chaotic as before but minus the crappy sounding buzz.

But when I play quieter reggae or zouk it makes it sound WAY more professional. You get that nice tight strat tone but you can finger pick without worrying someone will notice the buzz now. Reggae stucks sound clean. Solos sound better too.

I used to do looping with my strat and I'd need to try to keep the loops to maybe 1 or 2 because I'd pick up buzz each time I recorded a new loop. Now I can put as many strat loops as my pedals can handle, no buzz.

Highly recommend.

Thank you for your review of our Dual Layer BzzzzKill. We are gigged to hear that it has made such a positive impact on your music. It's great to know that you are able to achieve a professional sound without the worry of buzz, and that it has improved your solos and looping capabilities. We appreciate your recommendation and hope you continue to enjoy using your BzzzzKill!

My New Main Axe

A while back, I tried out my Strat with the newly installed BzzzzKill in front of my computer with my Guitar Rig software. My guitars usually buzz quite badly in this spot, likely due to 2 large monitors nearby that I use for my job. The Strat made no buzz. I thought maybe the stars had aligned and my setup stopped buzzing, but I plugged in my Gibson with normally very quiet humbuckers, and sure enough, loud buzz. My Strat has been notorious for bad buzz since I got it brand new. The only pickup setting I used live on a stage was position 2 and 4, because anything else was too noisy. Now this guitar is super quiet in ALL positions. This gizmo is simply amazing. Most Strat players either have to gut the guitar and change pickups, or live with the buzz. Now I can have the “vintage” sounding tone, with no noise.

My Strat was so noisy that I only used it occasionally, when I needed a specific Strat tone. However since I had the BzzzzKill, it's so clean and quiet it's become my main axe.

BzzzzKill is an amazing product that makes any Strat better than ever.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with our Dual Layer BzzzzKill, Brent. Fantastic how it has become your new main axe and has solved the buzzing issue you were previously battling. We designed the BzzzzKill specifically to eliminate unwanted Strat noise, and we're glad it has exceeded your expectations. Keep on rockin’!
