How does the Dual Layer model differ from the SingleLayer?
Both models virtually eliminate hum and preserve your
tone—the difference is which pickup configuration your bass guitar has.
If your bass guitar buzzes in ALL possible positions of your
volume controls, choose the Single Layer. If both volume controls wide open creates
no buzz, choose the Dual Layer (this applies to most recent Fender Jazz Bass®
guitars with reverse-wound neck pickup).
Simply test your guitar in all volume control positions—the
buzzing pattern tells you exactly which model you need.
Will this work with aftermarket pickups?
Yes, as long as your guitar has a single coil pickup configuration. If you're unsure, perform the simple test above or contact us.
How difficult is installation?
Installation requires soldering skills and comfort working with electronics. If you own a soldering iron and have experience with these tasks, you can install it yourself following our detailed instructions. However, we don't recommend learning to solder on your valuable instrument. For most players, we recommend having a qualified luthier or guitar tech handle the installation, which is a quick and simple task for a professional.
Is installation any different than the Dual Layer model?
The installation process is similar but not identical due to the different configuration needed for reverse-wound pickups. We provide specific instructions for Single Layer installation in our guide.
Is this a permanent modification?
No. BzzzzKill installs without any permanent modifications to your guitar. It can be removed at any time, leaving your instrument in its original condition.
